Introducing "Polystar"

I mentioned at the first Webisodes Meeting that I managed a local indie band called Polystar. I've added a few tracks from our recent album on my page here (left sidebar). The band is very open to having their tracks used in film projects! They're a synth pop band with new wave influence. Additional information on Polystar can be found on their MySpace page here, and CDs/downloads can be bought on CD Baby… Continue

Georgie!!

Did anyone else go to the George Michael concert last night?? Holy Shnikeys it was awesome!!! I wish I was a gay man so I could marry him! haha!! He sang a few Wham! songs, and a lot of stuff from Faith, and a good amount of his more recent stuff. Everything was great. He had a video of Dita Von Teese in the background during one song, which was great. He said he knows how hard it must for us to be George Michael fans sometimes! haha!! Then during the last song before the encore he came out… Continue

SAG RELEVANCE

Does anyone know what our Union Dues have done for us in New England recently? All the emails for SAG contacts are at *AFTRA.com. I haven't had a SAG hotline message in over a month. Most unions want to keep in touch with their members if only to keep receiving money. The news on the SAG site seems to be nonexistent. I guess, as long as we are paid up to date no one at the union office cares much about communication. Do I expect more from my membership than just being able to do a movie at… Continue

Just Got Back From Canada (Maine that is!!!)

I took part in my first gig as an extra today.

The film is called "27 Down" and it's filming in and around Middleton and Andover Mass, as well as parts of Maine (where the film is set.)

I got two of my friends in the real world involved in the shoot today and it at least gave me someone to hang out with for the day.

Several Our Film Space people were on hand who had either heard about from the posting here and… Continue

Just Got Back Providence (That's Providence, not P-town!!!)

Well the 48hr Film Fest was definately worth all the hype it was getting on this site.

What we saw in Group D were really ambitous films, but my buddy and I still don't get why some people took so long to shoot a 4 to 7 minute film since we generally have no cast, crew, script, or anything really and we occasionally crank out a good amount of footage in just a few hours.

Anyway I had a lot of fun on Anthony Mederios' "Tempus Fugitives" team down in Attleboro and I made… Continue

I'm Officially a Umass Boston student after a long day.

Today was a very long day but productive since it was my official orientation day at UMB. Of course I got lost there but found my way to other fellow transfer students as we all gathered in a big ballroom waiting and waiting for the orientation to start. As we all sat around the round table telling each other the same thing that it was going to be a long day since we all thought it was going to be a quick process and turned out to be a 6 hour event. The good part is that I met some fellow… Continue

Mel Gibson's Edge of Darkness Scouting in Western Massachusetts!!! Extras Needed!

The Springfield Republican reported today that the production company for Edge of Darkness has been scouting in Northampton, Massachusetts. Edge of Darkness, starring Mel Gibson, and to be directed by Martin Campbell, is based on the BBC Series of the same name. The story centers on a Boston police office who witnesses the brutal murder of his young daughter and then, in his investigation, dives into a world of corporate and government… Continue

Well, Team Unfolding Story Pictures in association with Layman's Terms Productions made it to the finish line in time for the 48-Hour Film Project in Providence, Rhode Island, July 18-20, 2008!!!!!

Thankfully, of the dozen or more genres we could have ended up with, we drew the genre of DRAMA Friday night at the 7 pm kickoff, which played to the best possible way of what we had been planning for. This year's required… Continue

Not Sure This Would Apply to this Community but....

I'm an internet marketing consultant who specializes in social media marketing. What is social media marketing you might ask? It is the new way to reach out to customers and market your business - big or small. Recently companies such as Dell, Denny's, Starbucks and more have implemented social media into their marketing efforts and the thought of having a "conversation" with their customers has turned into success for all involved - consumers AND business owners.

Basically what I am… Continue

48Hour Film Providence

I led a team last weekend for the 48 HFP in providence, RI.

Very big challenge. The member of our team that was bringing an HD camera, light kit, and Mac Pro didn't show up so we were stuck on Friday night with an idea that we couldn't shoot. That being said, we pulled some strings, got new equipment and made a pretty good movie.

Then the other problem occurred...The Canon X1 we used ate two of the tapes. We had to coil the tape back into the cartridge, but we lost at… Continue

My Journey

I have wanted to be an actress since I was a child. I was raised in a poor rural family and I knew I needed to develop a career to support myself before I could devote time and energy to my passion. Here I am, many moons later, an accountant who still wants to be an actress when she grows up. I've jumped back in full force and have brushed up on all my skills with classes and seminars and joined the local agencies. I feel confident about my natural abilities and I know if I can land auditions I… Continue

Costume and Setting can Affect an Actor

Recently, I was an extra on the film, The Surrogates. I played a Dread, which are the humans who care nothing about their appearance compared to the perfect Surrogates.

It was an interesting shoot, we were not allowed to wear any make-up at all. Our clothes were ragged and dirty and some people were even made to look dirtier. This actually affected some people who were used to being well groomed and made up. I still hear actors commenting about playing a dread, with some even saying… Continue
