Profile Information

Are you in the Production Industry?
I'm a self-employed freelance writer, composer, sound designer and researcher working in theatre development and production, and I would love to branch out in other creative directions.
Please Tell Us What You Would Like to Get from Being A Member of OurFilmSpace.com?
I'm really glad to find a site that is working exclusively toward networking locally for creative talent in the performing arts; I'm here to meet people interested in collaborating on upcoming projects and find some work.
Tell Us About Your Interests?
Writing, researching, composing, sound design, live theatre, drama & performing arts, cultural arts, directing, creative development..
About Me:

First off, Cheryl, my wonderful wife - that's her in the picture with me - is an awesome graphic designer. You are going to need some awesome graphic design work in your near future. Trust me. I'm telling you now so that you will remember where to go. You may already know her through Etsy.com or Ravelry.com as yarnbee. Find her at her business website at Theory One Design or at yarnbee.blogspot.com. Tell her I said Hi!

I'm a music composer/ sound designer, writer, researcher and the founder and artistic director of Ishah 'El theatre arts, a non-profit, multi-cultural theatre arts organization involved in the development, education, support, promotion and production of theatre with an emphasis on faith and spirituality.

I'm also a DJ with WMUA 91.1 FM at UMASS Amherst, and I host the Grooved Pavement world music show on Fridays from noon to 2:30 PM EST. Tune in and check it out sometime, either on your radio or you can stream it live through iTunes. Go to iTunes, click on "Radio" and search for WMUA in the "College / University" and "Eclectic" sections.

I have some ambitious plans in the works that I will be revealing here and elsewhere soon: more music, writing, audio plays and podcasts of current projects. Currently I'm working on getting my website completed, updating all of these various social web sites, FUNDRAISING, and in the near future will be on several collaborative sites. I hope I find you there.

Please consider making a tax deductible donation to Ishah 'El theatre arts through Firstgiving or JustGive

We are a U.S. registered 501 (c) (3) non-profit charity organization & your support is valuable to our success.

While you are here, please check out some of my music composition samples on my page. Maybe we could work on your current or next project. Much more to come.

As you can tell, I keep very busy, but I'm usually available to jump into a project if I'm given enough notice to be able to re-coordinate my schedule. I've gotten a lot of freelance theatre work at the last minute due to the "Oh, S**T! We forgot to hire a (fill in the blank)!" factor.

I was also a chef in a previous lfe - Escoffier, perhaps? - which seems to be the thing that most people are fascinated about, so I cook for close friends & small groups, make & sell my own spice blends and occasionally write about what I'm cooking and eating.

Making Spirits Bright: Ways We Can Renew the Christmas Season.

Posted on December 8, 2008 at 3:30pm 4 Comments

I nearly blew it last Christmas. Locked away and tucked tight in my velvet canopied bed, futilely trying to sleep through the spiritual affliction of holiday pickled herring and organic egg nog, I was barraged by a parade of ominous specters. The past was easy enough to ignore and I tried to feign indifference toward the present as I rallied for another round of sleeplessness. 3 A.M. arrived way too soon, and with it came the ghost of Christmas future, decked out as Martha Stewart from a… Continue

I saw your group [F12!]. The music sounds exciting and interesting. Do you guys play with live music? Do you have any samples of it up on the internet anywhere? Would love to check it out :)

Thanks for the add! Perhaps I might ask you what it's like to be in the freelance writing trade in these current tough times?

Hi thanks for the add. Very interesting profile, you sound like a Renaissance man, nice to have a wife who's talent can be incorporated into yours. I don't know if you read my profile but one of the many things I have done when living in Italy was radio speaker and voice over. I would be interested in perusing it here in the U.S. now that I have returned. Could you give me some direction?
all the best
