The esteemed and retired Dr. Conrad Bering has selected several individuals for group therapy. On this particular evening the members of the Group gather as usual in Dr. Bering's office only to discover that the doctor has been murdered. Who did it? And what do the appearances of a mysterious young man who killed a girl in Central Park have to do with what's going on? Does the fact that the doctor is the last and only tenant in this otherwise empty, guarded security building confirm that one of them had to have done it? To call the police will subject them to reckless scandal, relentless investigation and turn them all into fodder for the hungry media, so a collective decision is made to try to solve the murder themselves. Act One is a "whodunit" and by its end the audience knows the murderer. Act Two becomes a suspense play… will the characters figure it out? Will someone actually be "getting away with murder?" 2009-01-10 -VACUUM - Clockwork Repertory Theatre

Written by Haolrd J Pantely
Thursday, 18 December 2008 20:16
OPEN AUDITIONS will be held at the Clockwork Rep, 133 Main St., Oakville, Ct. January 10th, from noon to 4PM for the original comedy VACUUM. Snow date-Sat. Jan. 17. How would you like to create an original character for an original play? Now is the time to come and audition for VACUUM, an original comedy with "lots of room" to develop a unique character! Auditions are for the original comedy entitled VACUUM.

The play, written by Exec. Dir. Harold J Pantely, is an original comedy that was first produced in 1993. As a special feature, an original show from years past is re-developed and performed as part of each new season. 2009 is the second such year. The first was in Nov. of 2007 and was the comedy CARTUNES!, which was the most successful show in the theatre's 30 year history. VACUUM takes place in 1957 and is about a young man who desperately needs a job. He finds himself in the sales office of the AIR MOVER CORP and is immediately hired. He then goes on a whirlwind of sales calls with each of the salesmen, each one showing him their "secret sales pitch" with utterly ridiculous results. The show also features vignettes into the lives of the salesmen, as well as sales meetings that are just too funny for comparision. The show also features an original "sales tune", lessons about life and even a romance. The director wil be looking for 7 men and 3 women.

Characters are:

HAROLD - late teens to 20's, the hero, young and a bit naive, very likable

DELROY - late teens to 20's, a "cool cat" of the period, digs Elvis, of course

FOCH - 30's to 50's, the office manager, keeps things in line somewhat

WALLY - 30's to 50's, an upbeat salesman, believes in what he does

BOSS - 40's to 60's, energetic, a great pitch man PHIL - 30's to 50's, a salesman who also plays several smaller roles

HEARTLESS - 30's to 50's, a slick sales type, the name says it all SHIRLEY- late teens to 20's, the boss's secretary, has a flat monotone voice

LOUISE - 30's to 50's, a saleswoman, a no-nonsense type in a man's world

GIRL - teens to 20's-plays several small roles such as a pony-tail swinger, bar girl All roles are open and a stipend is paid to each actor to help cover expenses. Readings will be from the script with actors present. Actors are encouraged to come up with ideas to expand their character.

THIS ONE SHOULD BE FUN! For further info, call the director, Harold J Pantely, at 860-274-7247.

24-Hour Theatre in New London
Theatrical Event Listings - Auditions, In State
Written by Intentional Theatre
The Intentional Theatre is working with some people in New London to produce a 24-Hour Theatre project in early/mid February 2009. We will need 6 to 8 playwrights, an equal number of directors, and lots of actors, anywhere from 12 to as many as 40.

Within a 24 hour period, a whole show comes together out of nothing but a vague notion of an idea, mixed in with a roiling stew of creativity. So.......

If you aren't familiar with the process, the basics are these:
* Everyone meets at 8pm the night before the show.
* Certain guidelines are drawn for the playwright (theme, length, required prop)
* Cast and director are selected and "assigned" to playwright
* Playwright has until 8am next (show) day to complete 10-minute play
* Director/cast have until 7pm to block and get off-book
* Show goes up at 8pm, followed by all night cast party
* I made up the all night cast party bit, but it could happen

There is a good possibility that the show will be on a Friday night, although not 100% yet. That would mean directors and actors would need to have that Friday daytime open for rehearsal. Keep that in mind, although as I imply, it may change and hopefully to a Saturday night.

Either way, for a little more information, stop by our home page where you will find a little more information, and a signup page to get your name on the list. Remember, it will all be over in 24 hours.

What's the worst that can happen?

PLEASE GO TO CTCALLBOARD.COM TO SIGN UP.
